Frequently Asked Questions

Whats a Vegan?

A vegan is a strict vegetarian who consumes no animal food or dairy products; also : one who abstains from using animal products (merriam-webster).

Ok thats nice.  But why the hell would you want to do that to yourself?

For some people eating vegan is a health choice, for some people it’s a choice based of ethics.  I like to think I’m somewhat of a mix of both sides.  I’m in no way a health nut but I like to feel good and I think when you eat healthy you do feel really good.  I’m also not a crazy animal protestor, I don’t throw paint at fur coats when I see them, but I think it’s important to know where your food is coming from and what it was before it was packaged in cardboard and plastic.

But I saw you eating a cookie the other day and I know that it wasn’t vegan! You’re just a big phoney.

Yeah,  you’re right,  you caught me.  Being vegan is hard sometimes and if a friend makes a home made non-vegan cake or if I come home and my mom’s made her famous oatmeal chocolate chip cookies then I am going to indulge.  I can’t be perfect all the time and I think I would hate myself if I didn’t give my diet a little wiggle room.  I would rather eat vegan 99% of the time and be sane than eat vegan 100% of the time, hate myself and then give up after a few weeks.

When it comes right down to it eating ethically is a personal choice.  I’m not trying to force my lifestyle down people’s throats.  I’m just trying to raise awareness to vegan food, the benefits of the lifestyle and just make some really tasty food.
